It's a Rupp

Isn't it cute? May be just the thing for taking on an R.U.P.P.?

Hello, Avus. Here's some of the dope on the Rupp:

Here's a first from Rupp - their RMT 80. Primarily for off-road use, it's also street-legal in 45 states. Designed like a big bike, the RMT 80 has a flat-out torque curve through the entire 4000-7500 rpm range. Motorcycle-type muffler is quiet but performance tuned; built-in spark arrester makes it woods-approved. There's a 29 1/2-degree front fork rake for precise turning, plus smooth oil-damped front and rear coil suspension. Tires are Rupp-designed road knobbies. The RMT 80's frame is a double downtube, single backbone type made from 4130 chrome moly. Bike weighs in at 135 pounds. Fenders are flexible; lower yoke and brake pedal are forged. Frame-mounted gas tank is cushioned, footpegs are retractable. High/low SAE-approved headlight, 80-mph speedo, horn, two-way kill switch are standard. So are brake- and taillight, as are six Class A reflectors.

Well I asked and I certainly got! Thanks for that. Hope you (HH) intend to use it for what it was intended. Absolutely perfect for trail riding. I do like to ride a bike on the rough that I am able to pick up easily if we go over (and that has been known to happen).

I ride a Honda XL185 on the trails. 1982 twin shock, bought 2 years ago from old fella who had never ridden it on the rough or in the rain. It had only done 4,000 miles in his sole ownership. I almost felt guilty the first time it went through hub deep mud - but soon got over it - it now looks like it has been doing what it was intended for!

Thanks for info on the Rupp - something new every day!

I think the Rupp has even less miles. The previous owner had it since he was a kid of 7yrs, 11, I forgot, and he rode it on trails, but not endlessly. I think maybe it only has 700 miles on it, but it did suffer some, and the gas tank isn't working. HH has had several packages come for it already, but is still on the prowl for a gas tank. He talks of relining it, but says that is only a temporary fix, as it won't hold gas for long just being relined. The plan is for DD to ride it. Her first bike, the Reflex, was sold. She rode it in a park and on a gravel road. She had to stand on the pegs to kick-start it.
HH rode it on a Tiddler Tour with his club. He has thoughts of riding this one on this year's tour. He rides her little 250 Ninja to work. Perfect in the rain. Insurance is high on that because it's a sport bike.

I see you are bringing them up right! Best of luck to DD in her travels on the Rupp.
