Happy January

There are slugs outside.  I see one smashed all over the front entry; a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.  The survivors are happy because there are lovely crocus blossoms to eat.  Happy slugs.  The crocus look happy, too.

The Laverda has mostly left the guest room, where it was taking up the entire bed and floor as well as the blanket chest at the foot of the bed.  It's not all together yet, but an amazing amount of progress has been made.  The engine went from this

(Isn't it lovely?) to this

in a short time, but only short since HH started the reassembly process.  It's been quite a while since he took it all apart and got it all pretty as these pictures attest.  He claims he had to redo some of his work because he'd forgotten how it went together, and the manuals and his photos were lacking in details, but he's pretty sure he's got it right now, and even started it with the starter motor.  What larks!  Happy engine.

Reminds me of my younger days, Vita, when I used to lug WHOLE MOTORCYCLES upstairs (with brother in law's help and an undertanding wife) to the spare room to work on in comfort during the winter (the unheated outside garage was so cold you couldn't feel your fingers on the spanners). Happy Days??
Laverdas are a work of art and I can well understand HH's enthusiasm.

Good to hear from you, Avus! HH installed a new heater in the shop this winter. Twenty years ago or so he added insulation, and he adds new heaters every few years. It wasn't bad out there, but today is warm and rainy.

No assembly took place in the house, but the bike spent about a year in the spare bedroom.

I picture you hauling your bike up a narrow stairway with tight corners, which wasn't bad until you tried to get it back down? I have a friend putting an airplane together in his basement.

I had them in the basement (cellar) too, Vita. In that old 3 floor town house there were motorsickles coming out of the woodwork!

That makes a very nice picture in my head.
